We are a small charity learning how to make it fun and easy for people to cook and eat with refugees in their community.
In 2019 we’ve launched our meals in Cardiff, Croydon and Birmingham and we’ve got plans to head to 7 more cities by the end of the year.
Our ultimate goal is to become 100% funded by the people who come to our meals, but we’re relying on grant funding to give us the time we need to get there. This role is to help us secure enough funding to keep our team in place throughout 2020.
We already have a strong idea about the funders we want to approach and the story we’d like to tell them about why we need their support. We’re looking for someone who is able to understand that story and tailor it to each funders’ interests and priorities. You’ll be supported and guided by our Communications lead.

Our office is in London however we are open to accepting applications from people across the UK. If you choose to work from home, we may ask you to come into the office for meetings on occasion and we will pay your travel expenses.

Who we’re looking for
You will have experience in writing funding bids on behalf of charities to grant-making organisations and have been successful in securing five and six figure grants.
It’s important to us that you can come in and get writing as soon as possible, so you’ll be really good at taking lots of information on board, digesting it quickly and asking the right questions to get your knowledge up to speed.
Your written communication will be clear, accurate and easy to read. Every word you write will earn its place on the page. You’ll be able to create a compelling narrative outlining what we want to achieve that will make us irresistible to funders.
Detail and research is important. We’re looking for someone who reads the guidance notes from top to bottom, scours a funder’s website looking for helpful titbits and reads their blogs to learn more about their current thinking and priorities.
You’ll be someone who glides towards, rather than crashes into, a deadline. You’ll be able to plan backwards from the due date to ensure the bid has everything it needs to succeed.
You’ll be happy to take ownership of a bid, to work on it independently and to take initiative. You’ll contribute your own ideas and respond positively to guidance and advice from colleagues.
If you have existing relationships with funders, or experience in developing long term relationships with them, this would be a bonus!
Finally, you absolutely have to be a genuine team player and a supportive colleague, it’s the reason working here is so great.

Like some of our other team members, you will be a day-rate contractor, with a written agreement rather than an employment contract. This means holiday and sick leave are unpaid, and you will be responsible for managing your personal taxes as a self-employed contractor. We also ask that you have a reliable laptop and smartphone to use for work purposes.

Interviews will be held at our office in Oval on either Wednesday 10th or Thursday 11th July. We do not set any tasks or homework before the interview.
