Give the opening speech

One leader must stand up and give the opening speech to the whole room. This is essential for health and safety.

It’s important to include all the information shown below. It’s also important that everyone is quiet and paying attention.

Hello everyone!

Thank you for being here today. My name is [NAME], and before we get started, there’s a few things I need to tell you.

We’re going to start cooking from now until about 1.15pm, then we’ll eat until 2pm, when we’ll clean up together and then  leave at 2.30pm.

On your table will be a leader, these are [NAMES]. Wave and say hello! Your table leaders will guide you through everything

We’ll be making tabbouleh, chickpea salad and potato röstis. There’s a sheet on each table with allergy information, so please check them and talk to a leader if you’re unsure.

Finally, a quick reminder about safety. We’re not expecting a fire alarm, if it goes off, the nearest exit is here [point to exit]. Knives and graters are sharp, hot plates are hot!

We have a first aid kit on the table if anyone needs it [point to where it is]. If you have children with you, please make sure they’re supervised at all times. Stay safe people!

Right, that’s all from me, let’s get started :-)
