Freelance UX Designer

The Challenge

We’re looking for a UX Designer to join our team for a 5-day GV Sprint w/c 25th June.

About us

We're bringing together refugees, isolated older people, and local volunteers to build trust and connect through inclusive scalable activities. 

Our first prototype reduces isolation in diverse communities by making it easier for a small group of very different people to cook and eat a meal together. We send them a box of Ikea utensils and fresh supermarket ingredients, then a table leader reads out recipe steps from our app. 

While they sit around tables in pairs to peel, grate, or chop, they also answer questions with stories about the past and hopes for the future. 

We love what we do, and learn while we do it, combining digital service design with community organising to help atomised communities build trust, resilience, and power.

We have a small, but dedicated team. During the sprint you’ll be working with our CEO, operations manager, delivery manager and communications lead.

About you

  • Have past experience in UX, and evidence of your work in previous roles/projects

  • Be a confident visual designer, with a portfolio showcasing your work in previous roles/projects

  • Have experience in producing sketches and prototypes to determine viability of designs

  • Understand and champion creation and development of design systems

  • Have an amazing eye for detail

  • Be a thinker, gathering all available data to improve UX and design

  • Enjoy collaborating as part of a team

  • It would also be awesome if you had video skills too, but this isn’t essential
