Support the Welcome
We need your support to grow to 10 groups and 100 supporters in our 10th year…
100 supporters
Across the UK, digital-fuelled isolation, political polarisation and community cutbacks mean that people are increasingly lacking ways to come together, build meaningful bonds and exercise their collective power.
Local Welcome meals bring people together through the magic of food. Our local groups of leaders and members get together monthly to make these meals happen. They show up, invite and organise, they peel, chop and grate, they listen and share, then they dry up and debrief. These meals cost money, and they can’t do it alone.
Eating together is important (it’s even one of our values). And we’re always looking to gather more people around the table. However, we know many people care about what we do, but just can’t make it to a meal. Perhaps they don’t have a local group (yet), or weekends don’t work for them, or they have other commitments.
Does this sound a bit like you? If you’re not able to be in the room where it happens, please Support the Welcome instead.
10 groups
We start our 10th year with 7 groups meeting monthly across the UK. Our goal is to increase this to 10 groups by the end of our 10th year. With more groups, we will achieve more impact as an organisation, as we strive towards our vision: Diverse, resilient, and powerful communities, acting together for their common good.
Our groups are based in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Derby, Leicester, Liverpool and Norwich.

Supporter FAQs
-
Depending on whether you’re a Network or Local Supporter, monthly donations will help:
Local - Contribute to the cost of your local group’s meals and other direct running costs
Network - Support Local Welcome on its bigger picture mission of launching groups in as many communities across the UK as possible!
The certainty which comes from monthly donations (rather than one-off) also helps improve our financial resilience as a charity, meaning Local Welcome is more secure and less reliant on grant funding in the future.
You can read more about why we ask for donations, and how your donation will support Local Welcome here.

We understand that monthly direct debits are a commitment which not everyone can afford to make.
If you’d like to donate sometimes, but not monthly, you can make one-off donations online, via our website by clicking here.
After you’ve made your donation, please email us at: events@local-welcome.org to confirm the donation amount, and which group you would like us to allocate it to.

We use a safe and handy platform called Donorbox to collect and manage our donations! One of the key reasons we chose to use it is because it offers several features which allow donors as much flexibility as possible.
Here are some handy links to documentation on Donorbox’s website re: managing your monthly donation: -
